Downs Auctioneers & Associates, LLC.
began operation in 1936 under the sole guidance of
Olen E. Downs of Sedalia, Missouri. During the
early years of the Great Depression, Mr. Downs sold
two prize coon hounds and borrowed fifty dollars
from a neighbor to attend auction school and
engaged in his beloved profession of auctioneering.
It was perhaps this unabashed affection for his
livelihood and genuine interest in people that
assured Mr. Downs a successful career spanning over
8,000 auctions conducted in many states
Upon Mr. Down's
retirement in 1984, ownership of the business was
transferred to his son, Sam E. Downs. Sam had been
licensed auctioneer since 1980 and an active
participant in the family auction service. Desiring
to expand the business to encompass other areas of
auction liquidation, the business was relocated to
its present location in Springfield,
Missouri.
Established by corporate
charter in the state of Missouri on November 3,
1989, Downs Auctioneers & Associatess, LLC. is a fully
staffed, professional organization specializing in
construction, industrial and general business
liquidation auctions. Extensive experience in these
fields as well as a comprehensive direct mailing
list provides a broad market base of potential
buyers to assist in recovering more net monies for
your assets.
Today, Downs Auction
Service, LLC. is run with the same integrity,
ethics and professionalism as it was upon its
founding. Sam believes the primary responsibility
is to our client; and we strive to treat each
auction as if it were our own. We have continued to
improve our staff and utilize the latest
advertising and marketing methods to attract the
most qualified buyers for your merchandise. Downs
